“Visioning Tibet”

It’s been rainy all day as Ernesto dumps his remnants on the Northeast US.  All the lights are on when they normally aren’t, and it feels like the middle of winter.  As I was thinking about the dark, I got a call from a friend letting me know that she hasn’t gotten her new glasses as promised by the eye doctor, and is unhappy that she can’t work or do much else without them.  I asked if she’d heard of the Tibet Vision Project, and was happy to fill her in.  “The Tibet Vision Project acts as a catalyst for Tibetan ophthalmology programs by transferring the technology and skills of modern eye care to the poorest populations of Tibet at an affordable cost,” according to their website.

To fully understand the impact of that description, watch the documentary “Visioning Tibet” included in the August edition of Spiritual Cinema Circle.  (See the trailer too.)  Dr. Marc F. Lieberman started this program years ago and endures his own hardships to follow it through.  He’s trained local doctors to perform eye surgery on Tibetan nomads and farmers with cataract blindness.  ”Our vision,” he says, “is that every Tibetan whom we encounter will experience modern eye surgery with Heart: restoring sight, bringing light, allowing Tibetans to see the incomparable beauty of their homeland.”   Dr. Lieberman’s efforts are supported by donations, and all surgery is free to the patients.  The faces on those who have regained their vision tell the story of what love and gratitude can do for the world.

An excellent example of the power of the Laws of the Universe.
